Ideas for the Perfect Wedding Registry

Are you feeling overwhelmed with the process of creating a wedding registry? You are not alone! Whether you are starting from scratch and or looking to upgrade your current household items, it can be difficult to figure out everything you need to register for. I’ve made a list of essential items you should have on your registry and included the items I either registered for or already have and love! Many websites also offer registry ideas that can help you come up with more ideas as well. Happy shopping!

  1. Dishes
    1. If you are just starting out in a new home, now is the time to pick out your dishware collection! I would recommend choosing one that comes with matching accessories such as serving platters, serving bowls and ramekins. If you already have some dishware, this is a great time to add more place settings now that you are growing your family. The collection from Pottery Barn that I got when I moved into my house is no longer made, so I opted to add some pieces from a different collection to supplement what I already have. I chose something in a different color to complement my collection rather than try to match it.
  2. Silverware
    1. When I got married all of my silverware was hand-me-down from my parents and although I didn’t really mind the fact that some of the pieces didn’t match, it drove me insane how I had more of some pieces than I did of others! I couldn’t wait to get a fresh set of silverware. I opted to get 2 sets to make sure we had plenty of pieces for us and if we had guests. There are some really nice and affordable options on Amazon!
  3. Pots & pans
    1. Your wedding registry is the perfect opportunity to pick out a high-quality set of pots and pans. I really wanted a stainless steel set that would last for years to come and I found this beautiful hammered copper set on Amazon that I love. I know that stainless steel can be a little difficult to cook with, so I really wanted a non-stick set as well. I decided to go with Carote which is a beautiful set and also a less toxic option. If you don’t have a cast iron skillet, I highly recommend getting one as well!
  4. Utensils
    1. A good set of kitchen utensils such as spatulas, serving spoons, and a ladle is a necessity in every home. I opted for stainless steel and high-quality handmade wooden utensils that I know will last a long time with frequent use. Plastic utensils are not the healthiest option for your family and don’t last as long either.
  5. Knifes
    1. A good set of knives will make your life in the kitchen so much easier! There are many sets available on Amazon. The problem I find with knife sets is the high quality options might not match the color aesthetic you want for your kitchen. Also make sure you have a place to store your knives such as a knife block or a magnetic strip.
  6. Bedding
    1. If you have never lived with anyone before, I highly recommend a king sized bed. I had a queen bed before I got married which was great for just me and my dog, but adding another person would have been tough! I’m so glad we went with a king bed, but that meant getting all new bedding as well. I like having 2 bedding sets so you can put a new one on as soon as you take the old one off. I went with a soft organic fabric for a more natural option and a quilt because they are easier to clean in my opinion. I also have this comforter from Amazon that I love. If you have pets, I recommend going with a color that matches their fur if you can. I had white sheets for a while but they did not mix well with my black lab’s fur!
  7. Appliances
    1. Gone are the days of ovens and microwaves being the only appliance in the kitchen! Now there are so many different appliances that are staples in most kitchens. Toasters, air fryers, coffee machines, tea kettles, toaster ovens, the list goes on and on! While you definitely don’t need one of every kitchen appliance out there, there are some that are really helpful. I would say the staples include a toaster, a coffee machine, and an Instant Pot. I included an air fryer, espresso machine and ice cream maker on our registry as well.
  8. Hosting
    1. One of my favorite parts of our registry, hosting gifts! They are so cute and it’s so fun to imagine hosting family and friends and making memories after your wedding. These gifts are fun for everyone. There are so many options for hosting gifts, there are tons on Amazon or you could visit a local boutique or store and register there in person. I had so much fun with my mom and my grandma picking out items for my registry at a local boutique. The owner was so helpful too and gave me a ton of ideas. Not only did she have so many cute options in the store and other brides’ registries but she also had catalogs for all of the collections. I highly recommend doing at least part of your registry at a local store for the experience!
  9. Decor
    1. If you are looking for things to add to your registry, decor is a great idea. You can choose anything from faux plants, wall art, or picture frames. A digital picture frame is a great gift that you can use to display your wedding photos and even videos after your wedding. I would avoid adding things that will be thrown out once they are used such as candles because most guests want to buy you something that you will keep for a long time!

I hope this list gave you some great ideas for your wedding registry!

All our love,
