Non-toxic Kitchen Swaps
Today I am sharing my favorite non-toxic kitchen swaps! When I was creating our wedding registry, I wanted to upgrade all of our kitchen items to high quality non-toxic options. This is so important to create a healthy home. Items such as Teflon and plastic are incredibly harmful with overexposure, especially when they are heated to high temperatures. Non-toxic items are made of higher quality material and will last for years to come. If you find yourself needing to replace your old, worn-out kitchenware, I highly recommend investing in some of these non-toxic kitchen swaps!
Pots and pans are a big investment and it’s very important that they are not made with harmful chemicals and materials. They are being heated to high temperatures and touching your food directly. We use stainless steel pots and pans and have a cast iron skillet. I am interested in trying Caraway as a safer non-stick option but personally have not tried them yet. We also have this Dutch oven that we love. To go along with your pots and pans, you want to make sure you have either stainless steel or wooden cooking utensils as well. I also love this stainless-steel set of tongs that will be sure to work even better than your old plastic set! If you have non-stick cookie sheets and muffin tins, it’s time to swap out for stainless steel as well. I love that this set of cookie sheets comes with 3 different sizes and this muffin tin is a great option as well.
Although I have a beautiful set of Pottery Barn ceramic dishes that I got before we got married, we received a set of glass plates and bowls off our wedding registry. I love the glass for everyday use because ceramic can have lead in it that you can be exposed to if it becomes cracked or chipped. This helps to keep our nice ceramic dishes in great condition. Something I did a long time ago and highly recommend is swapping all of your plastic food storage containers to glass. We have this Pyrex set that we use all the time and love. We love using mason jars to drink out of because they are glass and conveniently have measuring marks on them as well. You definitely want to make sure you are not putting hot foods or beverages in plastic!
I received this milk frother and I use it every single day to make my morning beverage. I love it because it has a marking on the inside for 8oz and you can choose the temperature you want it to warm to. We also received a Chemex pour over that is an excellent non-toxic coffee maker. You can leave it on the burner on low to keep the coffee warm after you brew it. I have always been skeptical about air fryers, but after receiving this stainless steel one off of our registry I now understand how nice they are! This one is great because it also has a setting for dehydrating and proofing. If you have a Vitamix, I recommend getting this stainless-steel container especially if you are going to be blending warm soups!
Let us know your favorite non-toxic kitchen items!
